Certain vineyards around the world have vines that are over 100 years old — and some even exceed 400 years old. Older vines usually produce fewer grapes, but the fruit tends to be more concentrated and complex.

One famous example is in Barossa Valley, where ancient Shiraz vines survived the phylloxera epidemic because the region remained isolated.

Many wine lovers believe “old vine” wines can show deeper texture, intensity, and a stronger sense of terroir.
